What are the responsibilities and job description for the School Social Worker (Bilingual preferred)-- School-Based Mental Health Clinic position at Epic Long Island?
An article 31 mental health outpatient clinic, serving Nassau County for over a decade, has partnered with a local school district to provide in-school therapeutic services for children on the high school level.
EPIC Long Island is seeking a full-time mental health professional (LMSW/LCSW) with a required 1-2 years of clinical experience in an outpatient mental health setting. The school-based mental health psychotherapist is required to maintain a clinical caseload providing equitable, anti-oppressive, and trauma-informed therapy for middle or high school age children.
The therapist will be responsible for:
- Maintaining a caseload and providing individual, family, and group therapy to enrolled student population.
- Utilizing mental health screenings to aid in determining diagnosis for children participating in therapy.
- Maintaining up-to-date electronic medical health records in accordance to DOH and OMH policy which includes assessments, contact notes, crisis management notes, and progress notes, as well as familiarity with comprehensive assessments, treatment plans, and discharge summaries.
- Utilizing and maintaining relevant logs to record data for grant needs.
- Participating in group and individual clinical supervision.
- Maintaining outreach to students and their family to aid in engagement.
- Collaborating with other EPIC Long Island school-based mental health clinicians to create and administer classroom push-ins and training curricula for parents, school staff, and administrators.
- Providing crisis intervention, as needed.
- Collaborating and liaising with teaching, guidance/psychology, and administrators to meet children’s mental health needs.
- Optional engagement in continuing education trainings offered through EPIC Long Island and South Shore Child and Family Guidance Center.
- Prior school system experience preferred.
- Bilingual preferred(Spanish)
- Please note this job is year round position. EPIC school-based social workers do not follow a school calendar (holidays, breaks, or summers).

Pay: Up to $63,000.00 per year
