What are the responsibilities and job description for the Manager of Product Development | Data Platform Architecture position at Epicor?
We are seeking a Manager of Product Development with architectural and management experience to design, develop, and enhance our software products. In this role, you will be responsible for planning and implementing new features while maintaining and improving existing ones. You will also be responsible for architecting new features, understanding the platform, and managing other developers. A strong computer science foundation, application-building expertise, and familiarity with the prototyping process are crucial for success in this position.
What you will be doing:
- Managing several developers to implement new features and enhance existing app functions.
- Communicating with product and design to plan and prioritize projects and features.
- Researching solutions and communicating ideas for project needs.
- Building team culture and training developers.
- Coding a wide variety of aspects to help fix bugs, prototype new features, or lift team task load.
- Defining and teaching standards for long term app stability, scalability, and security.
- Working to understand and coordinate big picture needs and seeing them through to completion.
- Collaborate with the team to architect, plan, and take ownership of new feature development, ensuring alignment with business objectives.
What you will likely bring:
- Proven ability to collaborate with stakeholders to identify business requirements and develop software solutions that align with those needs.
- 5 years of hands-on experience in TypeScript and JavaScript programming, various framework knowledge, and experience developing in multiple code languages and architectures.
- Knowledge of various DevOps technologies within AWS, Snowflake, etc.
- Adept at navigating ambiguous product requirements, with a proven ability to find effective solutions even when all details are not fully defined.
- Experienced in problem-solving, with the wisdom to know when to seek assistance when necessary.
- Demonstrates a "big picture" approach to feature development, ensuring considerations of reusability, scalability, and security.
What could set you apart:
- Strong understanding of Object-Relational Mappers (ORMs) such as Sequelize, along with state management tools like Mobx, Redux, or Zustand.
- Strong knowledge in data communication via sockets, Redis, and APIs, as well as styling and design using tools like SASS and Tailwind.
- Demonstrated breadth and depth of knowledge for application development from start to finish.
