What are the responsibilities and job description for the Community Resource Specialist position at Epilepsy Florida?
The Community Outreach & Education Specialist (COES) will be working with stakeholders, community-based organizations, faith-based groups, school personnel, healthcare professionals, and service providers, as well as employers and potential sponsors. He/she will be an integral part of a statewide team. He/she will be responsible for doing outreach, in-person training, and awareness activities. He/she will also be recruiting volunteers, potential community partners, and donors. Salary commensurate with experience.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct presentations and training on seizure first aid and epilepsy awareness through community outreach events at schools, doctor offices, and professional conferences.
- Input data entry into the database.
- Assist with coordination of agency and department activities.
- Keep supervisor apprised of incoming requests or issues.
- Assist in volunteer management activities and schedules.
- Participate in all organizational development activities.
- Consistently treat colleagues and customers/donors/board members with dignity and respect; reflect professionalism and cooperative spirit.
- Organize tasks efficiently, maintain focus and stay productive.
- Thorough knowledge and understanding of Epilepsy Florida services.
- Abide by all EFLA and state policies, procedures, and mandates.
- Must be willing to travel, have a valid driver’s license, and insured vehicle.
- Must be able to carry 25 pounds
- Positively represent the agency at all times.
- Responsible for completing all other tasks related to this position as assigned by the supervisor.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of an Associate’s Degree (required)
- Minimum 1-3 Years' experience in community education, health education, public speaking, and/or advocacy, is a plus.
- Must have reliable transportation.
- Must be able to carry 25 pounds.
- Must be able to work independently and be available for some nights and weekends.
Salary Range: $17.00 - $21.00 an hour
