Responsibilities:
Conduct In-Person and Virtual Trainings:
- Deliver all requested seizure safety trainings to school staff, including teachers, coaches, and other personnel across Miami-Dade County.
- Train approximately 1,000 school staff members annually.
- Actively promote awareness and understanding of HB173 (Seizure Safe Schools Act) to ensure compliance in Miami-Dade County schools.
- Support school staff in understanding their responsibilities under the law regarding seizure response and safety.
- Collect feedback from all training sessions to measure the effectiveness and identify areas for improvement.
- Track and report feedback data to improve future training sessions.
- Act as the primary contact and liaison between the organization, Miami-Dade County Public Schools, and individual school staff.
- Foster strong, collaborative relationships with school district leadership, administrators, and staff to ensure smooth implementation of seizure safety programs.
- Address questions, concerns, or complaints from school staff or administration regarding the online seizure safety training program.
- Provide prompt and professional resolution to any issues that arise related to training materials or compliance expectations.
- Maintain accurate records of training completion rates and participant feedback.
- Provide regular reports on the progress of training initiatives and HB173 compliance efforts.
- Collaborate with the organization to support seizure safety awareness campaigns in schools.
- Provide educational materials and resources to school staff to reinforce knowledge following training sessions.
- Participate in EAFLA fundraising activities, staff and department meetings
- Abide by all EAFLA and state policies
- Perform any other related duties assigned from time to time
- Represent the agency in a positive manner at all times
- Perform duties assigned by Epilepsy Programs Manager
- Demonstrate ethical practices in management of resources and services provided
- Minimum 2 years of experience in training, education, public health, or a related field. Experience working with schools or school districts is highly preferred.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to engage and motivate diverse audiences.
- Strong ability to manage schedules, track data, and ensure compliance with training requirements.
- Familiarity with seizure disorders, seizure response protocols, and Florida's HB173 (Seizure Safe Schools Act) is a plus. Training on seizure safety protocols will be provided if needed.
- Proficiency in virtual training platforms (Zoom, Microsoft Teams, etc.) and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Must be based in Miami-Dade County or have reliable transportation to travel to schools as needed.
- This is a full-time position (30 hours per week) with flexible scheduling based on training requests.
- The role requires traveling to various schools across Miami-Dade County for in-person trainings.
- Some evening or weekend work may occasionally be required based on school availability.
