Certified Peer Support Specialist
JOB DESCRIPTION
Summary: The Certified Peer Support Specialist provides support and recovery training to individuals receiving services. In this dynamic role, the Certified Peer Support Specialist uses their lived experience and knowledge of recovery to provide individualized services in the community, promoting individual self-determination and decision-making to individuals with mental health and/or substance abuse issues.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED
Reports directly to the Clinical Manager on site.
TASK AND RESPONSIBILITIES
May include any and/or all of the following:
1) Provides peer support to engage individuals in a recovery partnership and assists in identifying client hopes and dreams and the solutions they are seeking.
2) Teaches recovery and life skills using recovery tools.
3) Assists in developing natural supports and community living, and cultivating connectedness in the person’s life (self, others, the environment, and to meaning and purpose).
4) Coordinates with the individual’s clinical team and other supports to facilitate the treatment plan and arrange services or resources to help the individual achieve their goals.
5) Informs client of community resources and how to use them appropriately.
6) Assists in peer support groups with assigned clients on a scheduled basis.
7) May accompany the client to meetings and participate in meetings of community groups to advocate for client needs.
8) Completes clinical documentation of peer support services as required.
9) Understands and adheres to Epiphany Family Services, LLC policy compliance and ethical standards as they appear in the employee handbook.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND PERSONAL CHARACTERISTICS
1) Certification as a Peer Support Specialist required.
2) 1 years of lived experience in recovery (mental health recovery; substance use recovery).
3) State-recognized high school diploma or GED or equivalent.
4) Must complete a minimum of twenty (20) hours of training specific to the required components of the service definition including crisis response within the first 90 days of employment.
5) Valid driver’s license and automotive insurance.
6) Ability to pass background check and drug screen.
7) CPR, first aid, NCI/CPI, and or role-related certification.
8) Ability to work independently, manage time and complete tasks accordingly, resolve conflict and respond calmly and appropriately under pressure.
9) Ability to exercise discretion in handling confidential information and adhering to all HIPAA requirements.
10) Ability to represent Epiphany Family Services, LLC with peers, colleagues, service providers, family members, and community members in an empathic, professional manner.'
