We are looking for a Group Facilitator who will be able to design groups focused on addiction recovery and mental health wellness. After each group the facilitator is required to enter notes for each client based on their involvement in the group. The role is part time and we will be able to provide 3-4 groups biweekly OR 1-2 groups a week, depending on the candidate and demand up to 12-15 hours per week.
A Group Facilitator is responsible for helping participants reach decisions and accomplish goals. Your duties include working with groups to clarify objectives and to establish ground rules that govern behavior. Facilitator duties also involve selecting appropriate methods and tools that will enable participants to achieve results. When problems or issues come up, facilitators work with the group to resolve conflict and return to goals. Other duties as a group facilitator include creating environments that allow civil dialogue and input from all participants and above all remaining neutral throughout the process.
What will your day look like? You will:
- To be a facilitator requires communication, listening and social skills. You will also need skills in group learning techniques, as well as skills in problem solving, conflict resolution, team building, planning and organizing. These skills are necessary for your role as facilitator to enable participative discussions and learning among group members, allowing them to express and present different opinions while maintaining a respectful environment. Facilitators are also skilled at introducing a variety of strategies to keep the process structured without interfering with group productivity.
- Conducting therapy sessions in a group setting once per week.
- Provide a comfortable and positive class environment
- Teach class according to the schedule description and level
- Start and end class as scheduled
- Inform and educate clients on nutritional information
- Leading groups through quiet meditation by talking through the process of letting thoughts go and relaxing each part of the body
- Preparing the group room by providing, gathering and setting up equipment.
- Developing client’s social integration techniques.
- Ensuring that the group room is clean after each session.
- Monitoring inventory and sourcing supplies, as needed.
What you will need for this position:
- High school diploma or Bachelor’s Degree
- A minimum of 1-2 years in recovery setting performing groups.
- One of the following:
- CADC/ LCADC
- CADC/LCADC Intern
- LAC/LPC/NCC
- MSW/LSW/LCSW
