To develop, validate, and integrate electro-mechanical components and systems into blast-hole drills. This position will collaborate with manufacturing, marketing, and principal engineer-electrification and provide them with engineering support to meet customer needs and manufacturing objectives.
Responsibilities:
- Responsible for the design and integration of new products and systems
- Establishes project plans including required resources and completion dates and manages the plan
- Estimates and tracks project and product cost to meet requirements
- Advise stakeholders immediately of any red flags and communicate corrective action
- Work closely in a collaborative environment with various areas of the business
- Collaborate with product engineering managers to integrate new technologies into their platforms
- Checks and releases completed work assigned to Engineers
- Prepares Bills of Material (BOM) and provides the purchasing department with specifications for ordering raw materials and components required for fabrication and assembly
- Interfaces with production during product build to ensure product compliance with design formation and delivery requirements
- Trains and develops engineers and designers. Develops technical and managerial competence of direct reports
- Must have the ability to prioritize/re-prioritize tasks, carry out root cause analysis, and deal with scheduling conflicts
Requirements:
- Requires excellent interpersonal, negotiation, problem-solving, and communication skills
- Ability to mentor your subordinates and co-workers
- Must be a decision-maker who can work under minimum supervision
- Must be a team player - open-minded and flexible
- Ability to generate creative solutions to problems and work in a fast-paced environment which requires multi-tasking capability
- Ability to learn and integrate future innovative technologies into the product line
Education & Experience:
- BS Mechanical or Electrical Engineering. Masters degree considered
- Computer Skills - Microsoft Office, 3D Modeling Software (Creo preferred), ERP system (Infor M3 preferred)
- Experience in Mechanical and electrical design
- Experience in heavy-duty or off-highway vehicle design and/or systems integration
- Minimum 10 years of work experience
There will be some travel to mines, supplier locations, etc. which may include overseas travel. Will have to work with the shop personnel during assembly and testing of the rigs.
