What are the responsibilities and job description for the Vice President Tax USA position at Epiroc?
Position Summary :
The Vice President, Tax is responsible for managing the U.S. function with the overall objective of ensuring that the effective tax rate is appropriate for the business. This includes all tax planning, and the organization and administration of tax accounting and research activities. The Vice President, Tax will also be responsible for advising management on tax issues as well as being a tax liaison with the company's foreign parent.
Responsibilities include :
- Develop the overall North American tax strategy, inclusive of income, sales, use and property tax.
- Perform tax planning and tax research pertaining to tax ramifications of existing or proposed Company operations and procedures, including any impact of current tax developments, new laws, rulings and proposed regulations.
- Manage tax reporting for the Epiroc companies in the US to Epiroc Group Accounting in Sweden on a quarterly basis.
- In conjunction with the Epiroc Group Tax Department, implement the proper processes, training and monitoring of our Epiroc Group Transfer Pricing Policies to ensure that we are complying both locally and globally.
- Manage the timely filing of accurate tax returns and payments for income, sales, use and property tax in each jurisdiction where the North American group operates.
- Manage outside tax advisors, including performance and cost management.
- Coordinate tax programs, processes and issues with finance and accounting and the operating units.
- Provide day to day direction to the tax department staff, including performance management.
- Manage tax audits in the most cost-efficient manner.
- Provide original and independent thinking to properly evaluate the various tax alternatives that arise in carrying out the responsibilities of the position.
- Ensure that support is provided to the operating units on all tax matters.
- Serve as liaison with the corporate parent on tax issues.
- Ensure the guidelines as set in The Epiroc Way are followed.
- Provide tax support for merger and acquisition activities, including performing tax due diligence and negotiating the tax structure of the transactions.
- Act as the Company representative in disputes with tax jurisdiction and develop action plans to resolve the disputes.
