Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Management:
- Directly oversee the operations of the Emergency Department, the ICU, and CCU, ensuring seamless patient flow and operational efficiency.
- Lead and mentor a diverse team of nurses, physicians, technicians, and support staff, ensuring a collaborative and supportive work environment.
- Foster a culture of patient-centered care by championing initiatives that prioritize the comfort, safety, and needs of patients.
- Provide strategic oversight and direction in implementing clinical protocols, quality improvement measures, and patient safety standards.
- Ensure that the highest standards of care are maintained at all times, focusing on optimizing patient outcomes and minimizing wait times.
- Lead initiatives to improve the patient experience, including implementing practices for effective communication, compassionate care, and addressing patient concerns.
- Monitor performance metrics related to patient satisfaction, clinical outcomes, and compliance with health regulations, and adjust operations as needed.
- Provide ongoing education and training to staff on best practices, patient safety, and innovations in emergency care and critical care protocols.
- Identify staffing needs and collaborate with HR and nursing leadership to recruit, retain, and develop a diverse and competent clinical team.
- Develop and execute succession planning strategies to ensure leadership continuity within the ED/ICU/CCU.
- Oversee budgeting and financial management for the ED/ICU/CCU, ensuring cost-effective resource allocation and achieving operational targets.
- Ensure optimal staffing levels while managing the operational budget to achieve financial and patient care goals.
- Collaborate with hospital leadership to secure necessary resources and support for ongoing department needs.
- Ensure all department activities comply with healthcare regulations, including HIPAA, CMS, Joint Commission, and other local/state/federal standards.
- Stay informed about new regulatory changes and healthcare laws that affect emergency and critical care departments.
- Lead internal and external audits to ensure adherence to the highest standards of care.
- Act as a liaison between the ED/ICU/CCU teams and hospital leadership, ensuring clear communication and alignment with hospital-wide goals.
- Collaborate with other departments to enhance the hospital’s overall clinical effectiveness and efficiency.
- Maintain strong relationships with local emergency services, community agencies, and other stakeholders to promote continuity of care.
Education & Certification:
- Registered Nurse (RN) with an active license in New York State.
- Bachelor’s degree in Nursing (BSN) required; Master’s in Nursing, Healthcare Administration, or related field preferred.
- Certification in Emergency Nursing (CEN) or Critical Care Nursing (CCRN) preferred.
- BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications required.
- Minimum of 5-7 years of clinical experience in Emergency or Critical Care nursing.
- At least 5 years of leadership experience in an emergency department or critical care unit, with a proven track record of success in managing high-volume, fast-paced clinical environments.
- Experience with patient-centered care initiatives, quality improvement processes, and staff development.
- Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
- Ability to handle high-pressure situations with grace, providing clear direction and support.
- In-depth knowledge of emergency care procedures, critical care protocols, and best practices.
- A commitment to fostering a positive, compassionate, and efficient patient experience.
Salary : $175,000 - $190,000
