The Infection Preventionist will investigate suspect infections and assist in formulating institutional response plans. In addition, this position includes identifying, tracking, and containing infections, data reporting, analyzing trends, assists in developing strategic programs and initiatives to reduce infection spreading, and educating hospital staff on all infection prevention/control and infectious disease management.

Job Description
The Infection Preventionist will investigate suspect infections and assist in formulating institutional response plans. In addition, this position includes identifying, tracking, and containing infections, data reporting, analyzing trends, assists in developing strategic programs and initiatives to reduce infection spreading, and educating hospital staff on all infection prevention/control and infectious disease management.
Responsibilities
- Clinical
- Assess patient needs and provide clinical intervention and consultation
- Conduct rounds in all areas, including clinical care reviews for catheters, central lines
- Monitor hand hygiene and infection prevention processes
- Education
- Participate in the development, education, planning, and implementation of effective hospital-wide infection control and prevention processes
- Participate in the development and implementation of quality improvement strategies
- Serve as a resource person for team members regarding infection policies and procedures
- Work collaboratively with internal departments and communicate goals and objectives
- Reporting
- Collaborate with Quality and Risk departments to develop and monitor studies related to unit-based infection control
- Collect, enter, and interpret data and provide reports of findings
- Develop data presentation and training materials
- Audit various EMR platforms to collect and validate information
- Bachelor’s Degree in nursing, Medical Technology, Master of Public health, or related field required
- Certified in Infection Control (CIC) preferred
- Must obtain CIC within two years of employment
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Proficient in computer applications and database management
- Nursing experience involving assessing and caring for patients with central lines and Foleys preferred
Salary : $115,000 - $130,000
