Job Description
The Physical Therapist plans, organizes and conducts the occupational program, which will include activities such as manual arts and crafts, pre-vocational, vocational and homemaking skills and activities of daily living.
Responsibilities
- Demonstrates ability to evaluate/assess the patient competently and to establish an effective and safe plan of care taking into consideration an individual’s physical capacity, psychosocial needs, goals and level of cognition.
- With an emphasis on safety, trains patients in self care activities with or without adaptive equipment. Selects activities that will help individuals learn work and life management skills within limits of their physical and mental capabilities.
- Monitors patient’s progress, maintains accurate documentation, re-evaluates patients in a timely manner and modifies plan of care accordingly.
- Gives instructions on proper body mechanics and lifting techniques as part of the treatment program.
- Directs patients in safe use and care of wheelchairs, canes, crutches and prosthetic and orthotic devices.
- Demonstrates proper and safe use of all modalities and exercise equipment being used in the physical therapy department.
- Utilizes principles of infection control and standard precautions consistently in performance of patient care.
- Maintains code compliance for various regulatory agencies and completes necessary forms, reports, and records regarding Activity/Occupational Therapy services.
- Assesses patient needs and provides clinical intervention recognizing the age and psychological needs of the patients.
- Requisitions supplies and equipment in a timely manner.
- Demonstrates ability to provide instructions/educate patients lacking command of the English language or unable to voluntarily carry out a therapeutic exercise program.
- Assists/participates in Performance Improvement and Quality Improvement activities as required.
- Maintains professional competency by attending appropriate conferences and workshops.
- Performs other related duties as required and unrelated duties as requested during unusual circumstances.
- New York State Dept. of Education license to practice as a Physical Therapist
- BS degree in physical therapy from an accredited institution.

Salary : $57 - $63
