The Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON) supports the Director of Nursing (DON) in overseeing the clinical operations of the nursing department. This role is integral to ensuring the delivery of high-quality, resident-centered care while fostering a culture of teamwork, compliance, and professional development among staff. The ADON assists with policy implementation, staff education, regulatory compliance, and quality improvement initiatives to maintain a safe and effective care environment.

Schedule and Rate:

  • From $85,000 - $95,000 yearly
  • Monday through Friday, Day shift (approx. 8am-4:30pm)

Key Responsibilities:

Leadership and Supervision:

  • Assist the DON in managing daily operations of the nursing department, ensuring smooth workflows and adequate staffing.
  • Supervise and mentor nursing staff, including Registered Nurses (RNs), Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs), and Certified Nursing Assistants (CNAs).
  • Act as the primary point of contact in the DON's absence.
  • Participate in recruitment, hiring, onboarding, and performance evaluations of nursing staff.

Clinical Operations:

  • Ensure compliance with care plans and medical directives for all residents.
  • Monitor clinical performance and support staff in addressing resident care needs.
  • Provide hands-on assistance with resident care as necessary, including administering medications and treatments.
  • Investigate and resolve resident or family concerns related to nursing care.
  • Fill in on the floor for Clinical Nurse Leaders, Nurses, TMA's when needed.

Regulatory Compliance:

  • Stay informed about federal, state, and local healthcare regulations and ensure the facility adheres to them.
  • Participate in preparation and response for inspections and surveys.
  • Maintain accurate and complete nursing documentation and reports.

Quality Assurance and Improvement:

  • Collaborate with the DON to implement quality assurance programs and initiatives.
  • Monitor infection control practices and oversee corrective action when needed.
  • Analyze clinical data and recommend improvements in care delivery.

Education and Staff Development:

  • Coordinate and deliver training programs to ensure staff competency and compliance with best practices.
  • Support continuing education opportunities for nursing staff.
  • Provide mentorship to foster professional growth within the team.

Resident and Family Engagement:

  • Promote a culture of resident-centered care by building relationships with residents and families.
  • Actively participate in care conferences and interdisciplinary team meetings.
  • Ensure residents' dignity, privacy, and individual preferences are upheld.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Current Registered Nurse (RN) licensure in the state. Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
  • Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years of clinical nursing experience, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or management role in long-term care or a related field.
  • Skills and Competencies:
    • Proficient in electronic medical records (EMR) systems and Microsoft Office.
    • In-depth knowledge of long-term care regulations, including OBRA, CMS guidelines, and infection control protocols.
    • Commitment to fostering a team-oriented, resident-focused environment.
