Minimum Qualifications:
- High school diploma with a minimum of 3 years’ experience in health and wellness required; prior supervisory experience preferred
- Bachelor’s degree in nursing, Physical Education, Exercise Physiology, Health Promotion, or a related field preferred. Current college enrollment is acceptable.
- Some experience working with the senior or aging population recommended.
- CPR/AED certified.
- Valid driver’s license and auto insurance required for travel to different ERS Cincinnati Affordable Living communities.
- Reliable form of transportation to and from ERS communities required.
- Professional certification in health and wellness area preferred such as certified group fitness instructor, personal training, wellness coach, etc.
- Experience in health screening, fitness testing, exercise prescription and/or personal training preferred
- Moves equipment and supplies weighing up to 50 lbs on a regular basis and up to 100 lbs on an occasional basis. May push residents in wheelchairs as needed.
- Is able to read, write and communicate effectively in the English language; has the ability to see and hear or use prosthetics that will enable these senses to function adequately to assure that the requirements of this position can be fully met.
- Possesses leadership and supervisory ability and is able and willing to work independently with flexibility and integrity, as well as effectively and harmoniously with team members, clients, family members, volunteers, government agencies/personnel, and the general public.
- Must be fully up-to-date with required vaccinations.
As a Wellness Assistant you can expect to:
- Creates, facilitates, and promotes wellness and health education programs for residents and team members at ERS’s Cincinnati affordable living communities. Works to increase participation in and enthusiasm for health and wellness programs at these communities.
- Creates and facilitates holistic wellness programs for communities based on the interest and needs of residents, including but not limited to; cooking/nutrition classes, educational programs, community events, spiritual programs, etc.
- Actively seeks out partnership opportunities with third party organizations that share ERS’s values and goals for the betterment of the residents.
- Performs fitness and wellness assessments on residents, implements appropriate interventions when needed, and reassesses residents at routine intervals. Responsible for tracking and maintaining a database associated with these assessments over time.
- Assures all documentation is completed and kept up to date for resident and team member participation in the fitness center and exercise programs.
- Leads and conducts exercise classes and in-services for residents and team members as indicated by need.
- Supervises the operations of the fitness areas and exercise classes, including maintaining these areas on a daily or as needed basis.
- Works closely with residents transitioning physical therapy incorporating therapy regimens. Refers residents to Wellness Manager and Service Coordinators therapy when appropriate.
- Ensures that the equipment is in proper working condition and all wellness related areas are kept clean and save.
- Communicates with appropriate team members and outside professionals regarding resident status or program projects following HIPAA guidelines.
- Refers residents to Wellness Manager and Service Coordinator if the need for therapy or external resources exists.
- Works cooperatively with the Wellness Manager, Service Coordinator, Director of Resident Support and other team members as it relates to wellness.
- Implements a resident Wellness Committee in conjunction with the Community Manager, Wellness Manager, and other team members assigned to the committee working to implement residents’ ideas into programming and creating a community of wellness.
- Provides outstanding customer service to all customers in accordance with ERS’s expectations and values.
