Minimum Qualifications:
- Associate’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related field required, or direct relevant experience in lieu of degree. CPP or FPC certification preferred.
- A minimum of three years’ relevant experience in payroll and benefits processing preferred.
- Has a passion to work with Elders.
- Has the ability to maintain confidentiality
- Uses critical thinking skills to effectively manage duties and responsibilities.
- Experience with Microsoft Office suite required, including Word, Excel and Outlook, and have a high level of accuracy in data entry.
- Is able to read, write, speak and communicate effectively in the English language.
- Is willing and able to transport self to various ERS locations.
- Is able to relate to and deal tactfully with team members across multiple processes, have strong interpersonal skills and maintain good working relationships with team members, residents, family members, visitors, government agencies, payroll/benefits providers and the general public.
- Has a high degree of organization and attention to detail; has the ability to handle multiple priorities, to work independently, and to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action.

As a Payroll and Benefits Coordinator you can expect to:
- Manages all aspects of biweekly payroll processing, including but not limited to: processing step wage increases; identifying and paying EARN More referral amounts following EARN More payment schedule; updating 403b contributions, employer match classifications, and 403b loan repayments; managing the payment of short-term disability payments; processing bonus payments; ensuring wage garnishments are processed timely by payroll vendor; and processing team member terminations and PTO payout.
- Reviews payroll exceptions and works with department managers to correct time card issues prior to completing bi-weekly payroll. Ensures accurate payroll files are transmitted to payroll vendor on a timely basis to meet the deadlines provided by payroll vendor, and submits post-payroll payments and documentation to vendors.
- Audits new hire files; ensures all new hire files are complete and data is accurately entered into the HRIS for all team members except for CCRC’s (serves as back-up for CCRC’s when needed).
- Ensures team member data input and filing are completed accurately and timely; serves as backup to assist with CCRC data input and filing.
- Performs ongoing detailed internal audits and controls procedures to ensure all wages and taxes are accurate. Assists in the payroll audit process and other audits as requested.
- Manages bi-weekly/monthly uploads/terminations for Human Resources and benefits vendors and ensures the accuracy of these files (ie. WCC, Awardco, LNA, Paytient, Scorecard, etc)
- Provides benefit information to newly hired team members and initiates a personal meeting to review benefits and enrollment process.
- Exhibits a strong working knowledge of all ERS benefits programs and actively assists all team members in understanding and effectively utilizing benefits and well-being programs. .
- Manages CDL database with ASTS and the random selection notices. Follows up to ensure the random drug/alcohol testing is completed timely.
- Initiates the COBRA process as appropriate. Ensures all terminations are processed in the appropriate benefits databases and sends out additional documentation as needed.
- Administers the FMLA benefits, including distributing forms, tracking responses, and following up on outstanding paperwork. Communicates FMLA status with managers and team members.
- Assists in all aspects of worker’s compensation for all team members except CCRCs including maintaining data in HRIS and engaging with injured team members to ensure appropriate follow-up treatment and prompt return to work. Serves as backup for CCRCs when needed.
- Ensures certification/licensure compliance for all ERS team members except CCRCs. Serves as backup for CCRCs, which may require managing the Ohio Nurse Aide registry.
- Manages required vaccination compliance and provides reporting to Administrators/managers as requested.
- Coordinates on-site benefits meetings (such as 403b), annual open enrollment meetings, and other meetings as requested, including scheduling rooms, room set up, special function form completion, etc.
