Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Pharmacy Technician to join our healthcare team. In this role, you will play a crucial part in providing exceptional patient service and support within a hospital setting. You will assist pharmacists in the preparation and dispensing of medications, ensuring that patients receive the highest level of care and safety.
Duties
- Assist pharmacists in preparing and dispensing medications.
- Prepares prescriptions for dispensing by the pharmacist and fills stock replacements.
- Makes requisitions for drugs and supplies with professional guidance from the pharmacist.
- Orders, receives, and maintains inventory of drugs and chemicals, and ensures their security.
- Helps maintain orderly, clean environment, including cleanliness of pharmacy stock and supplies.
- Enters data in computer system. Recording all prescriptions, purchase orders, stock orders, requisitions, and disbursements.
- Under direction of pharmacist, removes unneeded or outdated drugs from stock and prepares for return or disposal.
- Performs general clerical duties for the department.
- Processes all returns and credits as well as matching invoices to Wholesaler statements.
- Contacting Dr’s for refills, Medicare, Narcotic hard copies, and P/A’s.
- Provide excellent patient care by answering questions and addressing concerns regarding medications.
- Maintain accurate medication records and ensure compliance with medical terminology standards.
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals to optimize patient service and medication administration processes.
Qualifications
- Previous experience as a Pharmacy Technician or in a pharmacy setting is preferred but not required.
- Knowledge of pharmacy practices, medical terminology, and aseptic techniques is highly desirable.
- Strong communication skills with a focus on patient service and care.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
- Certification as a Pharmacy Technician is a plus but not mandatory; willingness to obtain certification is expected.
