What are the responsibilities and job description for the Pharmacy Technician position at EPLS, LLC?
Position Summary:
• Maintain accurate records of patient information with regulatory standards
• Identify and source high-cost specialty medications from approved vendors and manufacturers
• Monitor and track specialty drug solutions to prevent delays in patient care
• Process and manage prescriptions and prior authorizations efficiently
• Manage correspondence, including emails and phone inquiries from patients, providers and suppliers
• Track and report on medication usage, costs and savings opportunities
• Maintain comprehensive documentation of medication sourcing, purchase orders and delivery to patients
• Assist in onboarding and training of new pharmacy technicians and staff
• Maintain knowledge of current medications sourced through EPLS
Work Environment:
• This role operates primarily in an office setting – May require extended periods of sitting, typing and utilizing the phone
• Interacting with vendors, providers and patients in a high paced environment utilizing all points of contact (phone, email, text, etc)
Customer Service:
• Collaborate with EPLS staff, providers and insurance companies to ensure continuity of care for patients requiring specialty medications
• Assist patients with inquiries regarding prescription medications, billing and insurance issues
• Facilitate communication amongst healthcare providers and patients
• Handle escalated customer issues and provide solutions in a professional and timely manner
Qualifications:
• Education: High school diploma (or equivalent) required; Certification as a Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) is preferred
• Experience: 2 years of experience in a pharmacy technician role, preferably with administrative or supervisory experience being a plus.
• Skills:
o Strong organizational and multitasking abilities
o Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to network effectively with vendors, providers and patients
o Knowledge of medical terminology, pharmacy regulations, insurance claims/billing and prior authorizations
o Proficiency with pharmacy management systems, inventory software and standard office applications ( e.g., Microsoft Office)
Compliance:
• Comply with all expected certifications, to include but not limited to HIPAA, CPhT
• Ensure all sourcing/procurement activities comply with state, federal and specialty pharmacy regulations
