This role involves staffing a help desk, answering event-related questions, and proactively assisting individuals who may need technological guidance. Responsibilities include uploading and editing presenter documents, organizing digital files, and accurately documenting changes and technical issues in web-based spreadsheets. The technician will also facilitate smooth poster session transitions and ensure all technical aspects of the event run efficiently. Candidates must be highly organized, proficient in PowerPoint, comfortable with both Mac and Windows operating systems, and possess excellent customer service skills in a client-facing role.

Responsibilities:
- Assist the event manager in coordinating research and academic events by providing technical and logistical support.
- Staff the event help desk to assist attendees with inquiries related to the event, ePosters, and technical issues.
- Troubleshoot technical problems during presentations and events, including PowerPoint editing and software navigation.
- Provide proactive guidance to attendees who may need assistance with technology or event logistics.
- Upload, edit, and organize presenter documents in PowerPoint, Prezi, Keynote, and PDF viewer software as directed.
- Maintain and manage digital files, accurately document updates, and log activities in web-based spreadsheets.
- Facilitate smooth transitions during poster sessions by notifying presenters and executing transitions at scheduled times.
- Accurately document and report any technical issues encountered during the event.
Job Requirements:
- Proficiency in both Mac and Windows operating systems, including system preferences and file organization.
- Experience using multiple web browsers, including Chrome, Firefox, and Microsoft Edge.
- Preferred experience with virtual conferencing platforms such as Zoom.
- Advanced knowledge of PowerPoint and the ability to assist with presentation edits.
- Strong organizational skills and proficiency in using spreadsheets.
- Excellent customer service skills with the ability to maintain a calm and professional demeanor in a client-facing role.
- Must have a modern cell phone and be responsive to event-related communications.
- Professional appearance is required (staff polo will be provided).
- Previous audiovisual event experience is highly preferred.
- Reliable transportation is required.
- Dependable and flexible with availability, as event schedules may vary.
