Reports To: Subsurface Utility Engineering Manager
Status: Full-time, Non-Exempt
Primary Areas of Focus
- Safely Operate Hydrovac Truck and Equipment
- Perform Non-destructive Excavation
- Maintaining Equipment and Ensuring Safety Compliance
Core Responsibilities
- Safely operate hydrovac trucks and equipment to excavate and expose underground utilities such as water, sewer, gas, electrical, and telecommunications lines.
- Perform daily pre- and post-trip inspections of the hydrovac truck and equipment to ensure proper working order and compliance with safety regulations.
- Mobilize and demobilize equipment to and from job sites, ensuring safe transportation.
- Accurately interpret utility locate markings and understand excavation requirements.
- Maintain a safe and clean work environment, adhering to all company and industry safety standards.
- Communicate effectively with crew members, supervisors, and clients.
- Complete necessary paperwork and documentation accurately and timely.
- Perform routine maintenance and minor repairs on hydrovac equipment.
- Assist with other tasks as needed, such as potholing, trenching, or site cleanup.
Skills & Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Previous experience operating Hydrovac equipment is preferred.
- Understanding of underground utility locating and marking practices
- Strong work ethic and commitment to safety
- Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
- CDL Class A or B is preferred but not required.
Physical Requirements
- Required to stand, walk, and sit.
- The position may require a visit to project sites occasionally.
- The position requires a normal range of hearing.
- The employee must be able to lift 50 lbs. occasionally.
- Requires prolonged sitting with 15% of the time spent bending and reaching.
- Must have manual dexterity sufficient to operate a computer keyboard and calculator.
- Noise levels are consistent with a standard office environment.
