WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR
We are looking for an Automation Technician I whose role will be to support the automation department by performing maintenance on electrical and mechanical equipment, developing a thorough knowledge of all automation and control systems, maintaining inventory of spare parts and supplies, and providing other supporting services.
Automation Technicians play a key technical role in all aspects of the project life cycle. Technicians have essential responsibilities in project coordination ensuring smooth and effective factory acceptance testing & site acceptance testing. As the final step in the project process, integration is key to high-quality delivery before system handover to the client.
As a member of the Automation team, you will be involved in automation project development and installations. You will be responsible for implementing installations as well as performing inspections and producing reports while fostering a collaborative and innovative work environment. Your goal will be to promote a culture of accountability, safety, and continuous improvement.
YOUR DAY TO DAY
- Operate a variety of automation control consoles in a safe and consistent manner for performance and maintenance operations.
- Control machines and processes, by using either control mechanisms or direct physical activity to operate machines or processes.
- Update maintenance and inspection records within Microsoft Word and Excel, as well as other show specific software such as AutoCAD and maintenance databases.
- Establish and maintain interpersonal relationships by developing constructive and cooperative working relationships with others and maintaining them over time.
- Contribute to a safe and positive working environment at all times by adhering to and following all standards, values, policies and regulations pertaining to safety using equipment and established working methods.
- As a key member of our automation department, you will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, and operation of automation equipment for live stage performances.
- Develop a thorough knowledge of all automation equipment specific to EPS in order to operate and maintain mechanized and manual equipment safely.
- Assist other departments when necessary for cross-departmental support.
- Assist with controls system commissioning.
- Assist with the diagnosis, review and priority resolution of issues and reporting back to the relevant stakeholders.
- Engage in knowledge management and sharing process by creating and contributing to learning materials and manuals within the team and between departments.
- Engage with the projects teams to ensure successful handover of projects.
- Work under the instruction of the site supervisor to install equipment as specified.
- Assist in the preparation of large lifts and securing loads.
- Use material handling equipment to safely manipulate large loads.
- Use various hand and power tools to secure and modify equipment for installation.
- Work with the team to complete projects safely and efficiently.
- Attend meetings, in person or via video, to stay abreast of the installations and upcoming projects to which you are assigned.
- Complete regular administration work such as filing receipts and timesheets.
- Produce reports for inspections and review them with other team members.
- Stay updated on industry trends and best practices; implement new technologies and methodologies to improve efficiency and effectiveness.
- Demonstrate the values of the strategic plan, vision, and mission of the organization.
- Other duties as assigned.
YOUR QUALIFICATIONS
- At least 1 year of experience operating and maintaining motion control systems and/or theater experience with high large-scale productions.
- Strong mechanical drafting skills, knowledge of AutoCAD and SolidWorks is an asset.
- Ability to read and interpret drawings, blueprints and schematics.
- Working knowledge and experience with industrial machines, motors, gearboxes and related tools, including design, uses, repair, and maintenance.
- Working knowledge of AC\DC theory and electrical safety.
- Ability to perform the essential functions of the job including, but not limited to: climbing, crouching, kneeling, standing, lifting, sometimes for extended amounts of time; lifting at least 50lbs, working with limited to no visibility; Operate mechanized devices as necessary.
- Hardware, software, and network computer skills.
- Knowledge and understanding of entertainment/industrial automation technology and equipment.
- Knowledge of SWR crimping, various rope splicing, fall protection, ANSI, and OSHA standards.
- Existing ETCP certificate in rigging (or willingness to obtain).
- Must hold an OSHA 10 Certification, granted within the last 5 years.
- Live entertainment experience is strongly preferred.
- Ability to work well under pressure and meet deadlines.
- Proficiency in Microsoft suite including, but not limited to, Word, Excel, Teams, SharePoint, Fastfields (or willingness to learn).

- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; ability to build and maintain relationships, both with colleagues, vendors and clients.
- Exceptional organizational and strong time-management skills.
- Proficient in the installation and repair of automation-related gear.
- Professional automation and hydraulic experience preferred.
- Ability to work weekend and evening hours, as required.
- Willingness to travel.
- Have a passport (or able to attain one.)
YOUR WORK ENVIRONMENT
This position is located in the home office, Henderson, Nevada (or remote) and onsite. Anticipated travel is estimated at a 50-70% level. The schedule is based on projects and assignments.
