What are the responsibilities and job description for the Independent Living Driver position at Epworth Villa?
**This is a very part time job and would be perfect for a person who is retired or otherwise looking to stay a little busy and supplement his/her income. Our drivers are notified a day in advance regarding how many drivers will be needed the next day and what the scheduled drives are. Monday drivers are notified of the schedule the Friday before. This job does NOT have set hours.
**Must be able to work approximately 2 hours on Sunday mornings**
Duties:
- Drives company vehicles to transport residents, staff, and resident family members to doctor(s), hospital, and various locations.
- Refuels company vehicles as needed. Makes arrangements to have company vehicles serviced and/or repaired (minor).
- Keeps company vehicles clean, polished, vacuumed, and in operating condition.
- Adheres to operating and maintenance schedule as follows: checks fluids, checks tire pressure, and ensures vehicles are filled with gasoline for weekend use.
- May be required to transport residents to nighttime and/or weekend events.
- Provides community wide guest services including, but not limited to package and flower delivery, greeting guests upon arrival, telephone assistance and coverage, escorting guests to proper locations, help set up services and activities as needed.
- Assists residents and employees to and from their vehicles, when necessary.
- Attends mandatory staff meetings and abides by the Employee Handbook.
- Able to use a phone to retrieve drive request and to confirm resident drive appointments day prior.
- Possess computer skills and the understanding to become proficient in the usage of the program used for transportation.
- Weekly number of hours assigned is dependent on drive request daily.
- Other duties as assigned.
Skills/Qualifications:
- Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
- Ability to write simple correspondence.
- Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to residents, family members, and other employees of Epworth Villa.
- Maintain a clean driving record.
Other Skills and Abilities:
- Ability to use small hand tools or equipment to keep vehicles in a clean and polished condition.
- Ability to recognize if vehicle needs minor repairs or adjustments to keep in “top operating condition.” Ability to change a flat tire if needed.
- Must possess compassion, understanding, patience and tact in dealing with residents, families, and ability to work with other staff as a team member.
- Must demonstrate an attitude of service to residents, family members, staff, and people from the community.
- Must have ability to protect and maintain confidential business and resident information.
- Should be flexible and adaptable to changing shifts as necessary to provide transportation to resident activities.
- As a representative of Epworth Villa, must maintain professional appearance and demeanor at all times.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:
- Must maintain valid Oklahoma Driver's License and maintain a good driver's record.
