What are the responsibilities and job description for the Bilingual Public Accountant position at EQ Tax, Accounting and Business Solutions?
The bilingual tax accountant is chiefly responsible for overseeing the operations of the accounting department. They are the first point of contact for business clients and will manage the resolution of any issues that arise. Collaborates closely with the Business Solutions department to seamlessly provide clients with a full spectrum of services. Evaluates and ensures that the work of the accounting team meets or exceeds company standards.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- Oversees employees responsible for financial reporting, accounting, billing, collections, and payroll.
- Implements internal control policies and procedures for all accounting department activities.
- Oversees employee training programs and identifies training needs.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Oversight and preparation of periodic financial statements, activity reports and financial forecasts.
- Prepares and supervises the development of monthly balance sheets, income statements, and profit and loss statements for our clients.
- Supervises the set-up of new accounts, reconciled accounts, and monthly books closing.
- Prepares financial reports to track our client’s assets, liabilities, profit and loss, tax liabilities, and other related financial activities.
- Ensures that reported results comply with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) or international financial reporting standards.
- Reviews financial details from past, present, and forecasted operations; identifies development opportunities and new services that can benefit our clients.
- Provides clients with short- and long-term financial objectives and policies.
- Verifies payment of invoices associated with accounts payable and ensures payments are charged to the appropriate accounts.
- Confirms accuracy and oversees the filing of quarterly and annual reports.
- Advises Business Solutions department on and assists with implementing accounting and budgeting policies, particularly for setting up new business clients.
- Prepares required tax forms with federal, state, and local government agencies.
- Maintains knowledge of organizational procedures, federal and state regulations, and accounting standards.
- As appropriate, coordinates with the software vendor to maintain the accounting software system; recommends updates to enhance the accounting software.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Extensive knowledge of general financial accounting and cost accounting.
- Experience with Quickbooks Online.
- Strong supervisory and leadership skills.
- Bilingual in Spanish (required).
- Understanding of and ability to adhere to generally accepted accounting principles.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software, and specialized accounting software used by the organization.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Business Administration required; Master’s degree preferred.
- CPA designation preferred.
- Three to five years of accounting experience required.
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
Salary : $75,000 - $100,000
