Founded by law students in 1986, Equal Justice Works is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that brings together an extensive network of law students, lawyers, advocates, legal services organizations, and supporters to promote a lifelong commitment to public service and equal justice.
The Network Manager will cultivate and build relationships with the Equal Justice Works community of sponsors, host organizations, alumni, and law schools on the west coast to further our vision that a community of lawyers committed to public service can fulfill our nation’s promise of equal justice for all.
As part of this work, the Network Manager will serve as a regional lead of the Design Your Own Legal Fellowship Program managing and growing a portfolio of longstanding and new Fellowship sponsors and will sustain and grow relationships with the region’s law schools and broader legal sector.
The Network Manager will also ensure the fulfillment of high-quality stakeholder experiences through supporting Fellows and host organizations, building connections and engaging with regional Alumni, and actively contributing to the Equal Justice Works’ overall fellowship and law school networking strategy aligned to our mission, vision, values, and strategic plan.

Position Description
Network Function Leadership
- Engage with, foster, and grow EJW’s relationships with the key stakeholder groups on the West Coast for which the Network Manager is responsible:
- Sponsors
- Host organizations
- Law schools
- Alumni
- Sustain and grow the manager’s fundraising portfolio and key constituent relationships on the West Coast, primarily law firms, corporate general counsels, and other regional funders.
Sponsors:
- Steward and retain existing sponsors on the West Coast by conducting the support request, managing the Fellow selection process, and managing the Fellow’s interactions with sponsors throughout the two-year fellowship term, including sponsor presentations and pro bono engagement, to achieve high satisfaction and sponsor retention.
- Grow sponsorships on the West Coast by cultivating and stewarding fellowship sponsor prospects.
- Assist with Fellow presentations, prepare written reports and alumni booklets per sponsor requests.
- Manage regional portfolio of law school members on the West Coast.
- Serve as a knowledgeable and invested resource for law schools and law students and give presentations on Equal Justice Works programs.
- Cultivate relationships with Alumni on the West Coast to advance alumni engagement program goals.
- Work with Programs team to support relationships and communications with host organizations on the West Coast.
- In coordination with Program Manager, Fellowship Implementation, manage Fellow sponsor relations, including presentations and pro bono engagement, and monitor progress on individual fellowship projects.
- Work collaboratively with the Development Unit to solicit multi-year fellowship sponsorships and gifts from new and current donors, as well as support overall fundraising and constituent relations objectives, including the annual Scales of Justice, Steering Committee, and other event sponsor cultivation.
- Set measurable goals and KPIs to track effectiveness of network engagement programs and campaigns.
- Ensure timely, professional response to inquiries and communications from network members.
- Steward relationships with network members professionally and in alignment with EJW’s brand.
- JD and legal work experience required. Law firm or in-house legal department pro bono experience preferred.
- Five years of related progressively complex professional experience, fundraising experience, and/or relationship management experience preferred.
- Knowledge of the public interest law sector required, including understanding of social justice issues and familiarity with nonprofit organizations.
- Commitment to developing public service leaders and mentoring experience a plus.
- Ability to juggle multiple projects, problem-solve, and operate independently as well as working well in a team environment.
- Growth mindset with a strong sense of accountability for achieving results.
- Demonstrated ability to inspire and foster strong relationships with various stakeholders.
- Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
