Position Summary:
The Assistant Controller will assist in managing the financial operations of the club. This role involves maintaining accurate financial records, preparing financial reports, and supporting the Controller and CFO in various accounting and financial tasks. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in accounting, excellent analytical skills, and the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
The Assistant Controller functions include, but are not limited to, creating, and implementing policies and procedures, leading the compliance process, co-leading the labor management process, assisting with the audit and budget processes, producing monthly Member/Guest billing, and supervising others.
CRITICAL SUCCESS FACTORS:
- Ability to work in partnership with the Controller and CFO to support the financial strategy of the Club.
- Ability to review all major internal control functions, analyze, benchmark, document, report and lead appropriate refinements to maintain and improve current financial policies, processes, and procedures, for optimal fiscal results.
- Strong analytical, business acumen and service orientation
- Ability to drive and demonstrate forward thinking in leveraging technology to improve financial planning and drive results.
- The ability to lead and develop others in the department to ensure their success.
- Aptitude for learning and working down, across and up the organization.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university in accounting, finance, or relevant field. Or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Minimum five years previous experience required performing functions of the job; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Must be collaborative and have effective communication skills.
- Prior experience in hotels, golf clubs, social clubs, or related industries a plus
Knowledge and Skill Requirements/Specialized Courses and/or Training:
- History of working collaboratively with others to achieve desired results.
- Ability to communicate clearly and directly, using emotional intelligence.
- Ability to think outside of the box and adapt to changing priorities.
- Able to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Able to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
- Analytical skills with demonstrated ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
- Ability to use and leverage software to support various accounting related business processes.
- Excellent typing, computer (excel, word, outlook) skills required.
- Previous Club and NorthStar experience preferred (or similar software)
