***Battery Engineer***
This Battery Engineer will be responsible for the design, development, analysis, qualification, test oversight and production oversight of batteries required for programs in the Strategic Reentry Portfolio. Design and development responsibilities include drafting requirements, performing trade studies and creating battery specifications. Additional responsibilities include performing troubleshooting and Closed Loop Failure Investigations. The Battery Engineer will provide battery engineering support at battery suppliers to provide oversight for battery testing and production. Battery engineering support will be provided for rechargeable and non-rechargeable lithium chemistries as well as reserve battery chemistries such as molten-salt thermal batteries, silver-zinc batteries and reserve lithium batteries.
Basic Qualifications
Degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics, Chemical Engineering, Chemistry or related field from an accredited college/university, or equivalent experience/combined education
Experience with battery design, development, testing, analysis, qualification and supplier production oversight
Strong problem solving and conflict resolution skills
Ability to work effectively in a diverse team environment
Ability to work in a collaborative and team-based environment
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Proficient with Microsoft Office
Desired Skills
Experience with reserve battery chemistries such as molten-salt thermal, silver-zinc and lithium
Experience with non-rechargeable and rechargeable chemistries
Experience developing battery requirements and specifications
Experience analyzing battery test data
Experience supporting and/or performing failure investigations
Prior experience as a battery Certified Product Engineer
Experience working with suppliers and US government customers
Basic Qualifications
