What are the responsibilities and job description for the Heart & Vascular Sonographer position at Equiliem?
The Heart and Vascular sonographers perform non-invasive ultrasound in the modalities of vascular and echocardiography. They develop client relationships through excellent patient care. They act as an educational resource to clients, providing quality and value to all aspects of services. The Sonographer will be able to participate in research and in procedures and will work in a supportive environment and be extensively trained on our protocols and standards while working on the latest equipment and technology.
Job Responsibilities- Perform non-invasive vascular and/or echo testing and all duties of a Sonographer.
- Follow established testing protocols. Produce highest possible quality study images & data by demonstrating competence on and proper use of all imaging and accessory equipment.
- Obtain an appropriate history prior to each test with each patient.
- Responsible for ensuring there is supporting information and documentation for the exam being performed.
- Employ knowledge of ultrasound technology to determine if an order revision is appropriate and notify the appropriate individual.
- Adequately explain testing procedures to patients, family members as necessary, and hospital staff members connected to the care of the patient.
- Develop and maintain good relationships with clients and co-workers.
- Responsible for efficient provision of services.
- Work to ensure a collaborative effort with peers to achieve maximum productivity.
- Effectively schedule add-on and emergency exams to maintain work flow.
- Communicate with the patient care areas to properly prep patients and send for patients in a timely manner.
- Keep the assigned areas clean and ensure adequate stock of supplies.
- Communicate equipment maintenance needs to the Lead and operate equipment safely and properly.
- Follow Quality Control standards and participate in departmental process improvement activities.
- Participate in Peer Review as requested and other departmental Process Improvement expectations.
- Keep up to date on new or revised testing protocols and with professional continuing education as required for licensure or certification.
- Comply effectively with annual hospital and departmental safety, education, and in-service requirements on a timely basis.
- Attend department meetings and share responsibility for the agenda.
- Must have excellent interpersonal and communication skills (written / verbal).
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with hospital management, physicians, and technologists.
- Current knowledge of technology and clinical advances related to cardiac and/or vascular sonography.
- Working knowledge of accreditation, credentialing, and quality assurance procedures.
- Basic understanding of imager configuration, DICOM standards, networking, and medical records.
Duration: 13 weeks
- Shift: M-F 5x8s 7:30AM-4PM Days or M-F 4x10s 6:AM-5PM
- Required: Registered in modality by CCI or ARDMS, minimum of 2 years experience.
