What are the responsibilities and job description for the Safety Specialist position at Equiliem?
We are currently recruiting for a Construction Safety Specialist to support our construction operations team. As a Safety Specialist, you will be accountable for leading safety initiatives for this Branch. The position would include travel in and around the five Boroughs.
The successful candidate will be responsible for :
- Assisting in the development of procedures for safety standards and best practices in a team environment through frequent interaction and open communication with managers, employees, subcontractors, and clients.
- Conducting and coordinating worker safety training in areas such as safety standards and regulations, hazardous condition monitoring, and use of safety equipment for new and current employees.
- Ensuring compliance with SPS, OSHA, customer, state, and local regulations; and supports safety efforts to continuously improve overall site safety culture.
- Working under the supervision of the Safety Manager to conduct testing of air quality, noise, temperature, etc. to verify compliance with health and safety regulations.
- Inspect work sites to ensure working conditions comply with OSHA, NY DOB, and company policies
- Conducting risk assessments related to jobs performed by employees and suggesting risk mitigation strategies
- Conduct respirator fit testing and maintain appropriate records
- Participate in Frontline safety program (weekly update calls, observation reports, and other proactive safety tactics)
- Participate in project planning discussions with emphasis on high-risk projects and high-risk or repetitive work tasks.
- Conducting interactive training to help field personnel acquire necessary skills / knowledge / certifications
- Conduct all accident, incident and near-miss investigations
- Working with jobsite personnel and project teams to perform root-cause analysts, evaluate information, and implement corrective solutions.
- Maintains records and develops reports on new or ongoing programs and program effectiveness; prepares statistical reports as required.
- Manage / Facilitate Branch safety initiatives
- Perform other duties, as assigned, in support of the EHS Strategic Plan.
