Equipment Rentals of Hartford is looking to add a fulltime General Service Technician. Seasonal / part-time opportunities exist for students and retirees as Yard Service Personnel.
JOB DUTIES:
- Minor equipment repair
- Prep equipment, if necessary, prior to loading
- Clean equipment and service according to company standards and procedures
- Keep work stations clean, organized, and stocked with supplies
- Deliver and pickup equipment and supplies as needed
- Maintain clean facilities and grounds
- Maintenance checks
- Log equipment condition before and after usage
- Demonstrate proper equipment usage to customers
- Assist with loading and unloading of equipment
- Periodically assist customers via telephone and email
- Uphold company safety standards and ensure safety procedures are followed
- Attend department, store, and safety meetings
- Report safety violation to supervisor
- Perform other duties as requested
NATURE OF WORK:
The work can be physical and demanding, both from strength requirements and the stamina required. You will train customers on the safe operation of the equipment and assist both the customers and delivery personnel with loading and unloading of equipment. Maintaining inventory will be another large part of the job. Shipping and receiving functions, from light to heavy, are also performed.
TECHNICAL SKILLS:
- Basic knowledge of construction equipment
- Mechanical aptitude
- Knowledge of tools applicable to position
- Desire to learn
WORKING CONDITIONS:
- May have exposure to chemicals, including but not limited to gasoline, diesel fuel, propane, kerosene, and cleaning solvents
- Work will be indoors and outdoors with some exposure to outside elements
- Constant interaction with co-workers and customers
- Frequent lifting and a significant degree of walking, bending, pushing of object as well as periods of standing
EDUCATION, SKILLS, & REQUIREMENTS:
- A high school diploma / GED is preferred but not required
- Must be able to lift/move approximately 50-70 lbs.
- Must have and maintain a valid driver’s license
- Must maintain a professional appearance, company will provide uniform shirts
- Must maintain an acceptable attendance record
- Customer Service Aptitude
- Effective written and oral communication skills
- Equipment rental industry experience preferred, but not required
- Must have a full range of motion and dexterity
- Weekend work is required, but on a rotation
- High attention to detail
