What are the responsibilities and job description for the SPED Teacher position at Equipo Academy?
Who We Are:
A Campus Built for Great Teachers
At Equipo Academy, we know that great schools are built on the foundation of exceptional teachers. We believe there is no magic curriculum and no silver bullet, but rather, a deep commitment to fostering a community of educators who are empowered to grow and succeed. Our team is a family, dedicated to providing the best environment for both students and staff. This commitment shapes every decision we make, from the curriculum we design to the professional development opportunities we offer.
A Best Place to Teach
We are deeply committed to making Equipo Academy the best place to teach by providing our educators with the autonomy to design and deliver their best instruction, paired with the coaching and tailored professional development they need to keep improving. Teachers have two preps a day and collaborate in a supportive environment that makes the challenging work of teaching more sustainable. We offer leadership opportunities for teachers to grow as campus leaders and master educators. Our 8th-grade reading teacher, who has been with Equipo for six years, stays because of the “investment administration has in supporting staff” and the “openness to seeking input” from staff on decisions that affect their work.
A Small School with a Community Feel
With less than 1000 students spanning grades 6-12, our small size allows teachers to form deep relationships with students and their families. Our strong focus on family engagement means that getting students to and through college is a collective effort. “I have been here 8 years and have taught whole families; it really feels like I am part of a community,” says our 12th-grade English teacher.
A Focused Vision
Our mission is clear: to send students to and through the college of their dreams. We serve primarily first-generation college-bound students and have proven that all students, regardless of their academic and behavioral backgrounds, can succeed. Our last 7 graduating classes have all achieved 100% college acceptance by the end of their senior year. Equipo's founding math teacher chose to join us because our vision for education aligned with theirs and remains here because "we are doing good work in East Las Vegas."
