What are the responsibilities and job description for the Bank Teller position at Equitable Savings and Loan Association?
Position Purpose
The teller is responsible for handling banking transactions for loan and deposit customers, and is the personal representative of the institution.
Essential Duties
Serves customers by completing account transactions, opening and closing accounts, receiving deposits and loan payments, cashing checks, issuing savings withdrawals, recording night and mail deposits, and selling cashier’s and bank checks. Explains the financial products available to customers.
Other Duties
Assists Branch Manager with a number of duties including vault and other dual control records, insurance and tax payments, debit cards, reports, savings loans, and mortgage loan processing.
Decision Making
Tellers are responsible for accurately handling cash and checks throughout the work day, carefully examining financial documents, verifying customers’ identities, and following all procedures, guidelines and regulations. They need to know the products offered by the bank so they can refer interested customers to other bank employees who handle those products.
Financial Authority
Tellers will have responsibility for their own cash drawer, not to exceed certain limits, and will have total control over those assets. They will have individual check writing authority after three months.
Communication
Communicates directly to customers. Internally communicates through Branch Manager.
Results of Actions
Errors at the teller line can cost the institution not only financial losses, but can cause loss of reputation.
Supervisory Authority
This position has no supervisory authority.
Knowledge, Skills and Experience
The successful teller will have basic computer skills, cash handling experience, and possess mental acuity to learn the processes and procedures of the institution. There is also a degree of interpersonal skills required to interact well with customers and co-workers. This is an entry level position.
Working Conditions
This is an office position with regular daytime hours, Monday through Friday.
The job may require standing at a teller line for most of the day.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $14.42 - $16.00 per hour
