Equitable is seeking an influential and dynamic Financial Support Analyst to join our Disability and Absence Claims organization. The Financial Support Analyst is responsible for supporting the claims process by performing a variety of financial reviews and calculations to ensure accurate payments are generated. This role involves processing financial transactions like death benefits, overpayment adjustment and collections.

The ideal candidate will have a strong math background which has been applied performing financial transactions, organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.

Key Job Responsibilities

Financial Support

  • Overpayments – Calculate amounts paid vs. what should have been paid to determine whether an overpayment exists. If an overpayment is identified, initiate the process for recovering funds.
  • Adjustments – Make necessary financial adjustments to claims to ensure they reflect the correct amounts and comply with policy terms including offsets and deductions where applicable.
  • Partial Calculations – Perform partial calculations for claims, ensuring accuracy in payments and benefits when only partial claims are processed.
  • Death Claims –Assist in calculating the amounts for approved claims and initiate payments.
  • Record Maintenance: Ensure proper documentation and filing of all claims processed.
  • Reporting: Generate reports on claim statuses, trends, and key performance metrics for management to identify emerging trends.

Internal Coordination & Support:

  • Work closely with the claims adjusters, examiners, and other team members to provide support with claim management.
  • Prepare necessary reports, summaries, and documentation for the claims team and management as requested.
  • Assist in the preparation of claims for payment processing.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Compliance & Confidentiality:

  • Ensure compliance with all relevant laws, policies, and regulations concerning disability claims and sensitive personal information.
  • Adhere to confidentiality protocols and maintain the privacy of claimant information.
  • Stay informed about changes to disability insurance laws, regulations, and industry best practices.

Performance & Quality Assurance:

  • Meet or exceed service and performance targets such as quality, customer satisfaction scores, and other key performance indicators (KPIs).
  • Participate in training and professional development programs to improve skills and knowledge.
  • Achieve and maintain required metrics and goals
  • Work and partner with others within a team-based environment

The base salary range for this position is $41,000 - $55,000. Actual base salaries vary based on skills, experience, and geographical location. In addition to base pay, Equitable provides compensation to reward performance with base salary increases, spot bonuses, and short-term incentive compensation opportunities. Eligibility for these programs depends on level and functional area of responsibility.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Insurance, Finance, Business Administration, or related field.
  • Understanding of medical terminology, coding (ICD-10, CPT), and insurance policies.
  • Relevant Insurance industry certifications
  • At least 1 year experience handling insurance financial transactions such as payment calculations, over-payments, and adjustments
  • Previous experience in an insurance claims back-office role, preferably within disability, life or voluntary benefits is required. ,
  • Strong understanding of disability insurance processes, claims management systems, and regulatory requirements

Preferred Qualifications



  • Strong understanding of technology and industry trends

    • Strong verbal, written communication, and presentation skills
    • Comfortable dealing with complexity and ambiguity and able to explore multiple solutions
    • Previous experience with FINEOS Claims software platform preferred, but not required
    • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and claims management software.
