Equitable is looking for an experienced Underwriter to join our Employee Benefits team! The Underwriter- Employee Benefits will be responsible for risk assessment and decision-making on new business opportunities. This individual will work closely with the Distribution team to sell new business and maintain existing business, keeping the Company’s financial objectives in mind. The Underwriter II will also collaborate with other departments and vendor partners with underwriting-related issues and applicable best practices.

Required Qualifications
Communicating Complex Concepts: Knowledge of effective presentation tools and techniques to ensure clear understanding; ability to use summarization and simplification techniques to explain complex technical concepts in simple, clear language appropriate to the audience.
Group Insurance: Knowledge of group insurance products, business processes, market segments and the marketplace; ability to run applications effectively for the insurance organization's business.
Insurance Legal and Regulatory Environment: Knowledge of federal, state and local laws and regulations; ability to comply with these laws and regulations in insurance industry practices and activities.
Managing Multiple Priorities: Knowledge of effective self-management practices; ability to manage multiple concurrent objectives, projects, groups, or activities, making effective judgments as to prioritizing and time allocation.
Risk Analysis and Selection: Knowledge of risk analysis and selection; ability to utilize tools and techniques to analyze potential risk exposures and determine coverage.

- Collaborate with other departments and vendor partners with underwriting-related issues and applicable best practices.
- Work within Equitable’s quoting platform and other rating tools to develop manual and experience rates.
- Execute to key KPIs, including, pricing strategy targets, sales targets, persistency and TaT performance.

Required Qualifications
- 2 years of Group Employee Benefits Underwriting experience.
- Experience with Life, STD, LTD, Dental, Vision, Accident, Critical Illness or Hospital Indemnity products is required.
- Bachelor’s degree or relevant hands on work experience
- Proficient with Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook
- Established Customer Service skills and experience
- Proven ability to negotiate

- Solid work ethic
