Equitable is seeking a dynamic Vocational and Rehabilitation Specialist to join our Disability and Absence Claims organization. The Vocational Resource Specialist for Disability Claims is responsible for providing expert vocational guidance and resources to support individuals with disabilities in returning to work. This role focuses on offering vocational assessments and supporting claims specialists in evaluating claims, without engaging in the adjudication of claims.

Key Job Responsibilities


  • Vocational Assessment:
    • Conduct comprehensive vocational assessments to evaluate clients' role and required functionality.
    • Develop personalized vocational plans based on assessment results.
  • Career Counseling:
    • Provide one-on-one counseling to help claims specialist understand the claimants’ vocational strengths and opportunities.
    • Guide clients in setting realistic career goals and developing strategies to achieve a return to work.
  • Resource Coordination:
    • Identify and connect clients with community resources, training programs, and adaptive technology and equipment.
    • Maintain an up-to-date directory of vocational resources and support services.
  • Collaboration:
    • Support claims specialists by providing vocational insights and data to aid in the evaluation of claims.
    • Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings to discuss client progress and challenges.
  • Documentation and Reporting:
    • Maintain accurate and confidential records of client interactions and progress.
    • Prepare regular reports on vocational services provided and outcomes achieved.

The base salary range for this position is $60,000 - $70,000. Actual base salaries vary based on skills, experience, and geographical location. In addition to base pay, Equitable provides compensation to reward performance with base salary increases, spot bonuses, and short-term incentive compensation opportunities. Eligibility for these programs depends on level and functional area of responsibility.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications


  • Bachelor's degree in Vocational Rehabilitation, Counseling, Psychology, or a related field
  • 2 years of professional experience in vocational counseling or related role

Preferred Qualifications


  • Experience working with individuals with disabilities
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Proficient in using vocational assessment tools and software

Data Gathering and Analysis: Knowledge of data gathering and analysis tools, techniques and processes; ability to gather and analyze data on the needs of a target population.


Decision Making and Critical Thinking: Knowledge of the decision-making process and associated tools and techniques; ability to accurately analyze situations and reach productive decisions based on informed judgment.


Requirements Analysis: Knowledge of tools, methods, and techniques of requirement analysis; ability to elicit, analyze and record required business functionality and non-functionality requirements to ensure the success of a system or software development project.


Technical Writing/Documentation: Knowledge of technical writing; ability to write technical documents such as manuals, reports, guidelines or documents on standards, processes and applications.
