Job description
Eraclides Gelman, the largest Workers Compensation Defense firm in the Southeast, is looking for a great legal assistant with a positive attitude, great organizational skills, and works well in a team setting.
Position Summary:
The Legal Assistant performs a variety of complex duties with limited supervision. The individual in this role primarily supports attorneys with general liability background with an emphasis on insurance defense. The person in this role is a critical component of the team, and is in partnership with your Associates.
General Responsibilities:
· Under attorney direction drafts and prepares correspondence and other written documents as required including responses, reports, filings, pleadings, answers, motions, interrogatories, contracts, opinions, position papers, letters, etc., and other documents as assigned.
· Monitors, files, and escalates issues requiring attorney involvement. Performs timely handling of highly sensitive issues and materials related to case.
· Maintains calendar for trial and discovery deadlines. Obtains trial settings, coordinates and assist in preparation.
· Assist attorneys in all aspects of litigation, including but not limited to, digital dictation, scheduling, electronic filing, and maintaining the overall file.
· Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
· Minimum of 2 years of prior legal experience. Experience or background in insurance defense and general liability preferred .
Requires ability to work in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment.
· Requires critical thinking skills, superior communication and organizational skills, and the ability to work instrumentally.
· Strong computer skills including, MS Word, Outlook and Excel. Knowledge and application of legal research systems, and tools.
· Solid analytical and drafting skills.
· High School Diploma required.
