Join The Team:
ERCO Worldwide is looking for a PSM/Process Engineer to join our Technical/Environmental team! The PSM/Process Engineer ensures the Port Edwards plant operates in compliance with process safety management (PSM) practices as defined by the United States Occupational Safety and Health Association (OHSA), Process Safety Management (CFR.1910.119), United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) – Risk Management Program (RMP), Responsible Care Codes of Practice, as specified by the American Chemical Council (ACC) and the Center for Chemical Process Safety (CCPS). PSM responsibilities will be accomplished in collaboration with the Port Edwards Safety Manager, the Environmental/Technical Manager, the Technical Supervisor and the Corporate Process Safety Manager.
The PSM/Process Engineer also develops new concepts to improve process safety, operations, efficiency, product quality, environmental control and costs. They carry projects from design through installation and evaluation. The engineer utilizes experience in process unit operations to provide assistance as required to other plant groups.
The Role:
Safety, Health and Environmental Compliance
Coordinate the overall plant Process Safety Management (PSM) program.
Develop, update and implement plant PSM procedures.
Maintain and coordinate the process-safety information for the plant in collaboration with the Technical Specialist.
Identify and ensure compliance with recognized and generally accepted good engineering practices (RAGAGEP).
Participate in investigations of process safety incidents.
Participate in PSM audits at the plant.
Coordinate the plant’s consequence risk assessment for worst case and alternative release scenarios.
Supports site environmental compliance activities, including but not limited to environmental reporting, data collection, permitting and inspections.
Process/Project Engineering
Plans and implements Process Improvement Projects.
Supports use of Management of Change system for plant modifications.
Specifies equipment and materials for plant processes to ensure plant reliability.
Cost estimation for new projects.
Materials procurement and acceptance.
Installation oversight.
Knowledge of process improvements and process analysis to root cause.
Supports plant operations and maintenance in troubleshooting complex or repetitive problems to closure.
Evaluates alternatives for cost, process and operations improvements.
Project Management (all aspects of small to medium projects).
Communicates with other plant work groups, customers, suppliers and contractors to obtain best practices and experience input to process improvements or project scopes.
Develops and delivers training to plant employees on process improvements/modifications.
Performs duties of On Call Supervisor as defined by the Handbook and rotation schedule.
Functions as a team player with all open activities.
Coordinate the revalidation of plant PHAs
Facilitate PHAs for plant changes when required and PHA revalidations.
Facilitate Pre-Startup Safety Reviews (PSSRs) at the plant.
Assist with the review of proposed plant changes and provide guidance on when to conduct PHAs for plant changes.
Other Duties
Assist with preparation of reports as required by government, regulatory agencies and associations.
Keep up to date on current and pending legislation.
Establish a program to share information within the plant.
The Person:
Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering required.
1-3 years experience in Process/Project Engineering in a chemical plant environment.
Experience with PSM covered processes is preferred.
Desire to work towards registration as a Professional Engineer preferred.
Desire to obtain CCPS Process Safety Fundamentals Certificate or similar preferred.
