JOB SUMMARY
Leads a team of professionals to ensure technology solutions throughout the company are critically evaluated to provide successful combinations of technology, business effectiveness, and integration. Provides leadership for overall direction of technology, establishment, and enforcement of integration standards to ensure information technologies are built, maintained and available to the organization in a useful and consistent manner. Recommends and sponsors the investment in information technology architecture directions, investigates technology and market trends to advance the use of appropriate emerging technologies and assesses options for extending existing technologies through integration opportunities.
JOB DUTIES
- Responsible for hiring, coaching, training, and performance management of staff.
- Frequently interacts with reporting supervisors, customers, and/or functional peer group managers, normally involving matters between functional areas or customers.
- Responsible for the management of subordinate staff within a department. Typically has individual contributors as direct reports, but could have supervisory direct reports. Has full responsibility for direct reports.

Generally provides input to budgeting and financial decisions that impact the department. Requests approval for financial actions beyond a limited scope.
ADDITIONAL JOB DUTIES
- Provide direct supervision to the IT Architects and direct or indirect supervision to the other ERCOT architects
- Leads the creation or evolution of the IT architecture function/program
- Develops the content development ERCOT’s information technology strategic plan
- Analyzes the current IT environment to detect critical deficiencies and recommends solutions to the deficiencies.
- Creates and publishes technical and business roadmaps frameworks for IT systems based upon the analysis
- Promotes using EA processes, outcomes and results to ERCOT’s IT and Business leaders. Consults with project teams to align projects with the enterprise architecture and to identify when it is necessary to modify the enterprise architecture to accomplish project needs
- Consults with application and infrastructure architects to align solution architectures with the enterprise architecture
- Oversees the creation and publishing of the architecture, design and analysis products for ERCOT IT systems
- Evaluates and understands emerging technologies and market trends through research and study to help guide ERCOT to better ways to deliver reliable services
- Directs the standards setting process across all platforms including developing and maintaining technology roadmaps for platforms used at ERCOT
- Leads a standards committee across the IT group and develop and maintain the architecture guiding principles and standards to guide technology investments at ERCOT
- Develops and delivers technology vendor strategies
- Experience in at least two IT disciplines (such as Enterprise Architecture, Solution Architecture, technology management, application development, data analytics, database management or IT operations) in a 7X24 operations required
.EXPERIENCE
- Requires minimum 8 years job related work experience and 2 years in a management role in excess of degree requirements. Minimum years of job-related experience can include time in management roles.
EDUCATION
- Bachelor's Degree: Computer Science, MIS or related field (Required)
- Master's Degree: Computer Science, MIS or related field (Preferred)
- or a combination of education and experience that provides equivalent knowledge to a major in such fields is required
CERTIFICATION
- CISSP Certified Information Systems Security Professional (Preferred)
- PMP Project Management Professional (Preferred)
- TOGAF (Preferred)
WORK LOCATION – Taylor, TX:
- Employees will be required to be on-site in Taylor, TX at minimum 2 days per week, or more, as needed based on the business needs as determined by management.
- Remote work is required to be performed from your Texas residence.
- Employees may opt to work on-site more than required or 100% of the time.
