Job Summary
Participates (at varying levels of responsibility) in the review and analysis of transformer and line loss compensation calculations and methodologies used by TDSPs (Transmission and Distribution Service Providers). Assists in reviewing loss compensation and instrument transformer burden calculation for accurate energy registration. Ensures that the electric energy production and consumption for EPS metering facilities are metered per Protocol and Settlement Metering Operating Guides (SMOG) requirements.

Job Duties
- Understands the basic principles, theories and concepts related to the profession and learns how to apply them within the ERCOT culture.
- Follows standard practices and procedures in analyzing situations or data from which answers can be readily obtained.
- Contributes to specific objectives and outcomes as directed.
- Reviews and analyzes transformer and line loss compensation calculations and methodologies used by TDSPs (Transmission and Distribution Service Providers)
- Identifies workflow risks and proposes recommendations to mitigate them
- Assists in data gathering of Distribution Loss Factor (DLF) methodologies and mechanisms
- Performs review of site certification documentations to verify TDSPs’ compliance to Protocols and SMOG related to EPS metering facilities
- Provides reports and notices to TDSPs in regards to documentation submittal for EPS metering facilities
- Provides internal department reporting on TDSPs’ compliance to Protocols and SMOG related to EPS metering facilities
- Provides support to the MDAS team to facilitate the transfer of accurate metering information from the EPS meters to the MV-90 system
- Transfers metering information to the network modeling team via the NOMCR process
- Verifies EPS meter location in the network model
- Gathers and compiles supporting materials for metering-related hearings with ERCOT’s Governing Board and PUCT
- Gives support to systems development, Protocol and SMOG implementation, and general workflow procedures with other departments and clients by effectively managing projects and workloads
- Maps generation resources to EPS meters in support of MMS price calculations
- Supports Authorized Meter Inspector Certification Programs and training
- Addresses TDSP questions on EPS metering facility certification
- Assists in the development of departmental business procedures consistent with regulatory requirements and business rules
- Provides knowledge in procedures and business rules related to EPS meter engineering functions
- Participates in projects required to implement current Meter Engineering procedures including providing input for future enhancements, NPRRs, and SMOGRRs
- Assists in preparing and may deliver presentations within and to Meter Working Group (MWG) meetings
- Performs review of engineering design proposals and site certification documents for EPS metering facilities
- Reviews and approves transformer and line loss compensation calculations and methodologies used by TDSPs (Transmission and Distribution Service Providers)
- Develops compliance reports from departmental databases for EPS metering facilities
- Requires minimum of 2 years of progressively responsible experience in electric utility industry
- Requires experience in settlement metering analysis and administration
- Bachelor's degree Electrical Engineering or related field (required)
