What You Will Do
- Monitor and verify activities to ensure that all products going out of our commissary facility meet food safety standards in addition to quality standards.
- Prepare and present detailed reports on food safety and quality metrics.
- Work closely with Production, Managers/Directors and Human Resources on any food safety or compliance issues.
- Ensure that operations comply with federal, state, local, customer and company Food Safety policies and regulations.
- Conduct routine audits and inspections to ensure compliance with HACCP standards.
- Ensure proper logging, swabbing, testing, general sanitation, and adherence to strict food safety protocols.
- Manage, train and educate facility staff members on regulatory requirements and best practices.
- Develop, implement and enforce food safety standards, policies, and programs including regulatory audits, food safety training programs, SOP’s and standardized work instructions.
- Manage supplier approval programs and ensure compliance with vendor quality standards.
- Lead the team in crisis management and product recall scenarios.
- Collaborate with production and operations teams to identify and address quality and safety concerns.
- Flexible and able to work under pressure to include very tight deadlines and multiple projects.
- Other duties as assigned by management.
- Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Microbiology, or a related field.
- 7 years of experience in food safety, quality assurance, or a related field, with at least 2 years in a managerial role overseeing large scale production facilities.
- Strong knowledge of HACCP, GMP, SQF, or other food safety certification programs.
- Excellent leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
- Experience with regulatory agencies and compliance standards (FDA, USDA).
- Ability to analyze data and implement strategic improvements.
