Job Description
The Laboratory Supervisor will be responsible for daily coaching, guidance, and direction for the Laboratory staff. This includes creating and maintaining work schedules, organizing daily workflow, and ensuring resources and tools are available to support the refinery. The successful candidate will also participate in the development and stewardship of capital and expense budgets, serve as the radiation safety officer, and develop laboratory standard operating procedures.

Job Description
The Laboratory Supervisor will be responsible for daily coaching, guidance, and direction for the Laboratory staff. This includes creating and maintaining work schedules, organizing daily workflow, and ensuring resources and tools are available to support the refinery. The successful candidate will also participate in the development and stewardship of capital and expense budgets, serve as the radiation safety officer, and develop laboratory standard operating procedures.
Responsibilities
- Provide effective daily supervision, coaching, guidance, and mentorship to Laboratory personnel.
- Create and maintain work schedules.
- Organize daily workflow for Laboratory Analysts.
- Work closely with Operations to define and understand special needs for plant support.
- Coordinate sample scheduling changes.
- Participate in the development and stewardship of capital and expense budgets.
- Serve as the radiation safety officer.
- Develop and maintain laboratory standard operating procedures.
- Inventory and order supplies.
- Coordinate outside testing services and communication of sample results.
- Identify gaps in training, quality, resources, programs, etc., and recommend improvements.
- Coordinate customer sample shipment and receipt to ensure labeling and other regulatory requirements are met.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in a technical field.
- 5 years' experience in a laboratory or manufacturing operations setting preferred.
- Supervisory experience.
- Working knowledge of ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 systems.
- Knowledge of petroleum products industry and statistics helpful.
- Good interpersonal and communication skills (verbal and written).
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Above-average experience with Microsoft products and database programs.
- Must be willing to be first aid/CPR trained.
