What are the responsibilities and job description for the Process Engineering Co-Op position at Ergon Inc.?
This is a support position to the Process Engineering department at Resinall Corp, an Ergon company located in our Hattiesburg, Mississippi location. The Co-op can either begin in the summer or fall semester of 2025. The Co-op Engineer will supply engineering expertise to improve methods of manufacturing and monitor operations and troubleshoot processing problems with an overall goal of improving the quality of the product within safety and cost guidelines.

Primary Responsibilities
- Design equipment and develop processes for manufacturing refining products
- Conduct research to develop new and improved manufacturing processes and control schemes
- Design, plan layout, and oversee construction and improvement of equipment used in manufacturing
- Design and plan measurement and control systems for manufacturing based on data col-lected in laboratory and pilot plant operations
- Determine most effective arrangement of unit operations and equipment
- Perform test runs and take measurements throughout stages of production to determine degree of control over process and product variables such as temperature, viscosity, acid number, and pressure.
- Apply principles of chemical engineering to solve safety and environmental concerns
- Construct and maintain engineering tools
- Completion of 2 semesters in accredited engineering program (preferably in chemical or mechanical engineering) while maintaining a minimum GPA of 3.0, and a commitment to work in this position at a minimum of 3 semesters alternated with school.
- This requires a self-motivated person with strong leadership, communication, and organization skills.
- Experience with AutoCAD, Microsoft Windows, Word, Excel, and Power Point is recommended.
