What are the responsibilities and job description for the Welder, Fabricator & Mechanical Assembler position at Ergonomic Partners?
As a Welder, Fabricator & Mechanical Assembler, you will play a vital role in our design and build process, utilizing your comprehensive skillset to create high-quality custom lifting and automation devices from start to finish. You will utilize schematics, drawings, instructions, and pre-established guidelines to execute the build - fabricating and welding metal components and then assembling these parts into the final product. All of our projects are custom designed devices, so there is always variety and challenge in this role!
KEY RESP0NSIBILITIES:
- Fabricate and manufacture metal parts for assembly according to specifications.
- Read and meticulously follow shop drawings and assembly schematics with attention to detail.
- Produce strong, clean welds to specifications using primarily MIG welding techniques (TIG welding skills are a plus).
- Operate a variety of fabrication equipment, including band saws, drill presses, torches, grinders, and other hand tools.
- Conduct testing to ensure the strength and tolerance of welds.
- Break down the complete job and organize the assembly build process.
- Review the Bill of Materials (BoM) for sub-assemblies to ensure all parts are present.
- Assemble custom fabricated components and sub-assemblies into complete tools according to specifications.
- Determine, assemble, and align tubing and wiring for associated machines.
- Troubleshoot and debug mechanical assemblies as needed.
- Complete final testing and qualification of tools prior to customer acceptance.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- High school diploma or GED required; Associate's degree or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school is a plus.
- Minimum of 2 years of combined work experience in welding and mechanical assembly, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
- Strong familiarity with common welding tools and procedures, including MIG welding, metal fabricating, grinding, and finishing metals.
- Demonstrated ability to read and interpret fabrication drawings and assembly schematics with a solid understanding of common welding symbols.
- Basic math skills and proficiency in reading a tape measure.
- Efficient in the use of hand tools such as drills, measuring devices, electrical meters, etc.
- Good mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic aptitude.
- Must be dependable, reliable, and hard-working with a positive attendance record.
- Must be detail-oriented, quality-focused, and safety-conscious.
- Be capable of obtaining welding certifications required for the job.
- Ability to manage time effectively to meet schedules and be accountable for reporting per job.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- Must have manual dexterity in order to assemble products or machines as directed.
- Prolonged periods standing and performing repetitive tasks.
- Must be able to lift and move up to 50 pounds at a time.
- Ability to frequently walk, climb, kneel, bend, reach overhead, push, pull, and use a ladder or stool.
- Must wear proper personal protective equipment (PPE).
