About this opportunity:
Our team works with cutting-edge media codec technologies to optimize user quality of experience while using state-of-the-art media compression in volumetric contexts over the network. We seek to further integrate AI-accelerated and enabled techniques into the compression and quality assessment pipeline as we introduce the next generation of changes to over-network volumetric media experiences.
This internship will explore the development of innovative applied AI techniques in the volumetric visual media compression and quality assessment domain. In particular, we will focus on the application of these technologies to end-to-end distributed immersive media implementations. What you will do:
* Identify and advance volumetric media compression and rendering techniques to be used for improving extended reality experiences on next-generation networks and devices
* Introduce and demonstrate new tools for improving perceptual quality in media, particularly volumetric media, with an emphasis on applying cutting-edge AI technologies to dynamically improve user quality of experience.
The skills you bring:
* Ongoing PhD studies or an MSc degree in Computer Science, AI, or a related discipline - particularly with an emphasis on visual media technologies
* Knowledge and familiarity with certain areas of media compression, computer vision, and applied AI technologies such as AI-based compression or quality assessment technologies
* Ability to prototype, demonstrate and publish their research

The salary range for this position is listed below. The actual salary offered is dependent on various factors including, but not limited to, location, the candidate's combination of job-related knowledge, qualifications, skills, education, training, and experience.
