Supervises Facilities staff. Assists with performing maintenance work to keep the machines, mechanical equipment and structures in repair of the zoological park and ice arena. Will work in partnership with colleagues and develop strong working relationships with all departments of the Zoo. Ensures safety of visitors, staff, and animals throughout maintenance process.
Duties and Responsibilities:
¨ Supervises Facilities staff
¨ Manages and maintains online work order and preventative maintenance system
¨ Prioritizes and assigns work orders
¨ Assists with maintenance work to keep the machines, mechanical equipment and structures in repair for the zoological park and ice arena.
¨ Partners with department supervisors to coordinate access to areas for maintenance repair or projects.
¨ Secures supplies and materials for the Facilities department
¨ Coordinates with Facilities Director to secure outside vendors for maintenance repair or projects
¨ Conducts and documents required inspection of equipment
¨ Maintains maintenance and training records for the Facilities department
¨ Develops and implements preventative maintenance measures for equipment, buildings, and vehicles
¨ Ensures that passenger vehicles, powered industrial truck, Zamboni, tractor, and gators are maintained and inspected on continuing basis.
¨ Operates powered industrial trucks, tractors and equipment to move materials.
¨ Use of all power and hand tools (including, but not limited to, drill press, table saw, circular saw, cordless drill, and welder).
¨ Basic carpentry, plumbing, welding, painting, and electrical work
¨ HVAC preventative maintenance and minor repair.
¨ Obtains and maintains PA ride inspector license. Inspects rides as needed, ensures reports are filed with the State.
¨ Serves as a member of the safety committee
¨ Works with the President/CEO to ensure safety program policies are adhered to
¨ Assists Facilities Director with construction projects as needed
¨ Supervises training of Zamboni drivers, train drivers, and carousel operators
¨ Works with Facilities Director to develop a budget for the Facilities department
¨ Performs required maintenance on Ice Arena equipment and coordinates operations for annual opening and closing of the facility
¨ Other duties as assigned

Qualifications: Previous maintenance experience. Prefer 2 years supervisory experience. Ability to operate power and hand tools. Proficient with Microsoft Office programs. Experience with electronic preventative maintenance program preferred. Must have valid driver’s license. Knowledge and experience with the safe use and maintenance of large equipment such as tractors and fork lifts.
Work environment: Zoo grounds and buildings, shop and ice arena. Must be available weekends, weekdays, holidays and on call hours.
