Erik's Ranch & Retreats, located in the breathtaking Paradise Valley near Livingston, Montana, is seeking a versatile and motivated Ranch Hand to join our team. At Erik's Ranch & Retreats, our mission is to provide exceptional experiences for our guests while empowering young adults with autism to lead meaningful and independent lives. This role combines ranch operations, hospitality, guest engagement, and supporting our members—young adults with autism who are integral to our mission. The ideal candidate will have experience with horses, enjoy working with people, and thrive in a dynamic outdoor environment. Housing is provided as part of the compensation package.
Key Responsibilities
Trail Ride Leadership:
- Lead trail rides for guests, ensuring safety and an enjoyable experience while showcasing the stunning views.
- Care for horses, including feeding, grooming, and monitoring their health.
Guest Services:
- Provide friendly and professional interaction with guests and members.
- Assist in coordinating activities such as guided hikes or horseback rides to enhance guest experiences.
Housekeeping Support:
- Help maintain cleanliness in guest accommodations and common areas.
- Perform laundry duties and ensure all amenities are stocked for guest comfort.
Ranch Operations:
- Assist with general maintenance tasks such as repairs, groundskeeping, and equipment upkeep.
- Support animal care by feeding livestock and monitoring their well-being.
- Other tasks as assigned
Working with Members:
- Partner with members (young adults with autism) to support their involvement in ranch activities such as trail rides, animal care, and hospitality tasks.
- Foster a positive and inclusive environment that encourages skill-building, independence, and personal growth for members.
- Serve as a mentor and role model by demonstrating patience, understanding, and enthusiasm for their contributions to the ranch community.
Skills & Qualifications:
- Previous experience with horses and riding is required; knowledge of trail safety protocols is a plus.
- Strong interpersonal skills to interact effectively with guests, team members, and members.
- Compassionate and patient demeanor when working with individuals with autism or diverse abilities.
- Physical stamina to perform labor-intensive tasks in various weather conditions.
- Ability to work independently while contributing to a collaborative team environment.
Work Environment
This position is a full-time position that involves outdoor work in all seasons and requires flexibility to handle diverse tasks in a rural ranch setting.
