This internship provides students with the chance to gain practical, hands-on experience at a world-renowned golf destination. Participants will actively contribute to delivering an exceptional guest experience while developing leadership skills and operational expertise in the golf industry. Ideal candidates are passionate about pursuing a career in golf and eager to learn all facets of the golf business.
Key Responsibilities
- Participate in all aspects of daily operations, including:
- Managing initial reservations and guest inquiries.
- Assisting in the golf shop with sales, inventory, and guest service.
- Coordinating on-course play and ensuring pace of play standards.
- Providing comprehensive support for the full guest experience, from arrival to departure.
- Uphold Erin Hills’ high standards for service, hospitality, and professionalism.
- Actively collaborate with team members to identify and implement improvements to the guest experience.
- Represent Erin Hills as an ambassador of the brand during guest interactions.
- Help to Host a successful 2025 United States Women's Open
- Full-time commitment: 40-48 hours per week, with an average of 6 days per week.
- Duration: May – October 2025.
IV. Duties and Responsibilities
Reservations
- Answer incoming calls, assisting with reservations, confirmations, special requests, and inquiries.
- Communicate the history, services, and offerings of Erin Hills effectively.
- Process, sell, and confirm room reservations using strategic selling techniques.
- Respond to calls promptly, ensuring a professional greeting within three rings.
- Stay informed about current course events, activities, operational hours, and dining options to provide accurate information to guests.
- Register daily golf guests and provide comprehensive information about the facility.
- Serve as an active member of the golf shop staff, contributing to smooth operations.
- Manage the tee sheet, Point of Sale (POS) system, and other computer-based tasks.
- Execute merchandise sales using effective sales techniques and maintain product knowledge.
- Welcome guests warmly and assist with registration processes.
- Provide room assignments, keys, and directions to accommodations while identifying opportunities for up-selling when appropriate.
- Address guest issues and complaints empathetically, focusing on guest satisfaction, and seek supervisor support as needed.
- Facilitate guest check-outs, ensuring accurate billing, collecting payments, and verifying satisfaction.
- Assist guests with luggage and golf bags during arrival and departure.
- Support golf practice facility maintenance and manage all bag drop functions.
- Coordinate guest arrivals with luggage and valet services, providing clear instructions and ensuring seamless transitions.
- Transport luggage to and from guest rooms and assist with departure logistics.
- Perform daily cleaning and maintenance of the locker room.
- Provide detailed cleaning and upkeep of shoes, including spike cleaning.
- Ensure lockers are reset and ready for use after guest departures.
- Prior experience in the golf course or club industry is preferred.
- Enrollment in or completion of an accredited Hospitality or Professional Golf Management (PGM) program is highly desirable.
- Familiarity with golf management software and POS systems is an advantage.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs regularly.
- Capacity to stand and work on feet for up to 8 hours per day.
- Ability to work productively at a desk or computer for extended periods when necessary.
