Job Summary:
The Surgery Clerical Support/Scheduling Specialist must be able to exercise superior communication skills and filter a vast amount of information accurately with the ability to interface effectively with patients, physicians, and all other levels within the organization. Has a working knowledge of CPT and ICD9 ICD10 codes to add-on surgical procedures the day of, through the coordination of the Surgery Charge nurse and anesthesia. Daily coordination of calls inbound and outbound calls for the department. Handles multiple staff requests, by directing the request to the most appropriate person in a timely manner to respond. Distributes final schedules to all appropriate areas on a daily basis.
This position is involved in a team-based approach to care. Team members are trained to meet the highest level of function for their role as per the State of Tennessee/Georgia guidelines. Is trained and assigned (as per their role and responsibilities) to coordinate care for patients and is trained and assigned to support patients/families/caregivers in self-management, self-efficacy and behavior change. Is trained and assigned (as per their role and responsibilities) to manage the practices' patient population. Participates in the practice's quality improvement process and performance evaluation.

High School education and experience in medical terminology

Familiar with Microsoft Word and Excel, with proficient data entry skills.
