Job Summary:
The Physician Assistant-Certified (PA-C) or Acute Care Nurse Practitioner employed by EHC provides selected medical/surgical services within the specialty of orthopaedic medicine. The services delegated to the Physician Assistant-Certified (PA-C) will form a component of the supervising Orthopaedic physician's scope of practice and any others as defined by the Collaborative agreement the PA has with the collaborating physician. Services rendered by the Physician Assistant-Certified (PA-C) Orthopaedic must be provided under the supervision, direction, and ultimate responsibility of a licensed Orthopaedic surgeon accountable to the Board of Medical Examiners (A.B.O.S.). The Physician Assistant-Certified (PA-C) Orthopaedic must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served. Functions include managing the care of orthopaedic and/or surgical patients, performing orthopaedic splinting, casting and traction procedures, preparing the patient for discharge, completing History and Physical examinations, as well as discharge summaries. The Physician Assistant-Certified (PA-C) Orthopaedic must identify opportunities for and contribute to the improvement of quality, safety and cost, as well as patient and customer satisfaction.
This position is a mix of outpatient duties at our ortho walk-in clinic in Ringgold, GA and inpatient duties at our ortho Level III trauma unit at Erlanger East in Chattanooga, TN. This position is involved in a team-based approach to care. Team members are trained to meet the highest level of function for their role as per the State of Tennessee/Georgia guidelines. Is trained and assigned (as per their role and responsibilities) to coordinate care for patients and is trained and assigned to support patients/families/caregivers in self-management, self-efficacy and behavior change. Is trained and assigned (as per their role and responsibilities) to manage the practices patient population. Participates in the practice's quality improvement process and performance evaluation.

Required:
Master of Science in Medicine of a certified Physician Assistant program or
Graduate from an accredited School of Nursing with Acute Care Certification.
