Job Summary:
A Paramedic in the Emergency Department is responsible for direct and indirect patient care while under the direction of a Registered Nurse and based on the Scope of Practice guideline.
Education:
Required:
Graduate of an accredited EMT-Paramedic training program. De-escalation training.
Preferred:
An Associate's degree is recommended. Bachelor of Science degree is preferred.
Experience:
Required:
A minimum of one year of continuous experience on an Advanced Life Support Ground Unit as an EMT-P. Experience must reflect general knowledge in pre-hospital medicine principles and practice skills.
Preferred:
One year emergency services experience in a hospital setting
Position Requirement(s): License/Certification/Registration
Required:
Current licensure privileges to practice as a paramedic in the state of employment.
BLS completed prior to going to unit/department and maintain ongoing thereafter.
ACLS required within 6 months and maintain ongoing thereafter PALS required within 6 months and maintain ongoing thereafter
NIHSS required prior to completion of departmental orientation and maintain ongoing thereafter
Preferred:
BTLS/PHTLS certified
Nationally Registered EMT-Paramedic (NREMT-P)
