Job Summary
The Neurosurgery Spine Registrar abstracts cases, performs case-finding and provides support in all technical phases of the Spine Registry. The Neurosurgery Spine Registrar is attentive to detail, has good computer and organizational skills, attends required educational functions and maintains credentials. The Neurosurgery Spine Registrar will be responsible for abstracting/collating data into a presentation format and then delivering these results in graphs/to providers and service line leadership on an ongoing basis aligned with the DNV expectations/standards. Experience with data collection, excel graphs is needed. Understanding and knowledge of ICD-10 coding related to spine procedures/diagnoses.
Education
Required: Bachelor's degree
Preferred: Neurosurgery Spine Registrar certification is preferred.
Experience
Required: One to two years of experience in a hospital care, experience with data abstractions, graphs, coding.
Preferred: One to two years abstracting experience in a surgical registry.

Department Position Summary
The Neurosurgery Spine Registrar, Certified abstracts and codes clinical data using appropriate classification systems, performs case finding procedures, and provides support in all technical phases of the Spine Registry.
Abstracting must be completed within six months of the date of first contact (at least 90%). Quality of data is monitored and maintained (errors/edits should not exceed 10%). The Registrar reviews all updates and remains current on all coding guidelines. Standards, requirements and guidelines are followed in strict accordance with the American Orthopedic Society (AOS). The Spine Registrar complies with all the requirements of the AOS for an approved Spine program. Assist with data abstraction, graphs, conference material as needed.
Assist with Spine monthly Quality review, Quarterly Multi-Disciplinary Committee for Spine and conferences, and annual review, as needed. Be able to share and review findings with spine data through reports and graphs.
