What are the responsibilities and job description for the Botanist (Field Based) position at ERM Group?
ERM is hiring a Botanist to conduct surveys for project efforts in Lincoln County Idaho. This is a full-time (50hrs/week), limited-term role for a duration of 3 months extendable.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Monitoring efforts include surveys for BLM special status plant species.
- Lead a team of up to 6 biologists to conduct surveys.
- General habitat experience
- Electronic data collection.
- Handheld and sub-meter accurate GPS data collection.
- Daily reporting and survey report compilation.
- Coordinating with other field team members, field coordinator, and project manager.
- Other duties as assigned or required.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor’s degree in Botany, Ecology, or related field.
- Minimum 5 years’ experience required.
- Experience working in Idaho is required.
- Must have current MSHA (Surface Miner – 30 CFR 46/48) certification.
- Ability to hike in rough terrain up to 5 miles per day in a range of temperatures.
- Ability to work safely outdoors in variable weather conditions.
- Must have a strong attentional to detail in documentation of work.
- Must have strong organizational and communication skills.
- Work schedule will include weekends (Saturday) and/or over-time.
- Desire to work in the field for extended periods of time and maintain a positive attitude.
- Willingness and ability to travel as needed.
- Demonstrated independent and effective problem solving and decision-making skills.
