Overview:
The Area Manager is a key leadership role directly responsible for overseeing the frontline supervision of the production lines within our electrical transformer manufacturing company. This role is crucial in ensuring that production leadership are operating efficiently, consistently, and safely. The ideal candidate will possess a blend of technical knowledge, leadership prowess, and operational savvy, underpinned by a strong commitment to excellence in manufacturing practices.
Responsibilities:- Oversee daily activities on the production floor, ensuring that manufacturing processes adhere to established schedules, quality standards, and safety protocols.
- Build associate engagement by championing cultural values including enthusiasm, commitment, and involvement.
- Monitor overdue units and make sure that Production Supervisors are maintaining turnaround time.
- Monitor attendance, production issues, and employee issues reported by Manufacturing Supervisor and issue corrective action as needed.
- Develop plan for potential production disruptions and report plan to Production Manager.
- Oversee CapEx budget plan of needed equipment, staffing, etc. and present it to Production Manager.
- Mentor and develop Department Supervisors to prepare for future roles within the organization.
- Recruit strong talent and assist with developing training plans.
- Work closely with other Area Managers to deploy resources effectively, addressing and resolving production challenges swiftly to minimize downtime and disruptions.
- Lead and assist with manufacturing projects within the plant.
- Continuously monitor and review production metrics to identify areas of inefficiency and bottlenecks. Implement strategies for process improvement to boost production efficiency and enhance product quality.
- Oversee that frontline supervisors are focused on production metrics and are coordinating plans to eliminate inefficiency and bottlenecks.
- Proactively search for improvement initiatives to enhance production efficiency and product quality.
- Champion workplace safety by enforcing strict adherence to safety procedures, conducting regular audits, and leading safety training sessions to cultivate a safety-first culture among the production team.
- Monitor housekeeping throughout the plant floor and address with Department Supervisors.
- Conduct performance evaluations of Manufacturing Supervisors offering constructive feedback and coaching to foster skill development and enhance team productivity.
- Engage with the Manufacturing Manager and other departmental leaders to ensure production activities are fully aligned with broader plant goals and objectives, contributing to the overall success of the manufacturing operation.
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical degree or certification in manufacturing, engineering, or related field preferred.
- A minimum of ten years in a manufacturing environment, preferably in the distribution transformer industry.
- Knowledge of servant leadership tenants and team management skills, with the ability to motivate and build employee engagement.
- A strong desire to grow and lead people.
- A minimum of five years proven experience in a supervisory role within a manufacturing or production environment
- Knowledge of production processes, quality control standards, and safety regulations
- Strong organizational, and communication skills
- Ability to problem-solve and make decisions quickly and effectively

- Strong computer skills including the Microsoft Suite
